I ordered this AET-R842 FDA 510(k) Cleared Medical Grade Infrared Thermometer to have on hand for cold and flu season. First of all, my pediatrician said that the rectal temp is still the gold standard in babies under 1 year old. He said this thermometer is not what he would recommend for a child under 1 year. Talk to your own pediatrician. With that being said, this thermometer was ordered for an older child.I used it on myself, my little boy, and my husband. I used it at the same time with another ear thermometer I have. I also used it at the same time with a glass thermometer I have that I used orally. This thermometer proved accurate enough. There is much to consider though because I found when I did not follow the directions with correct positioning of the ear that it was not as accurate. Follow the directions carefully. There is an easy to follow booklet included. There are 2 AAA batteries included along with a handy storage pouch. The reading is fast. It is just one second. It is the fastest thermometer reading I have ever seen. I like that this stores the last 32 readings. The display is bright and easy to read. The thermometer is so lightweight that at first I thought it felt cheap, but it does seem sturdy and durable. This is a good quality thermometer, and I think it is a great value.
