My doctor wants me to be checking my blood pressure regularly, probably because it is a little bit high and I'm on low levels of medication for it and because it's kidney-protective, although maybe they want to everyone to regularly monitor their BP. I have an Omron brand arm cuff that I have used but it is really awkward to try to get it it on and aligned properly on myself. I have long heard that the wrist cuffs aren't as accurate, but I recently had a couple of surgeries and at every visit before and followup visit with the surgeons their medical group checked my BP with wrist cuffs. I figured if they're good enough for them then it's probably good enough for my use at home.At first I found I was getting readings that were lower than had been typical with my arm cuff but I did not bother to dig it out of storage and compare. Instead I had a visit with my PCP coming up anyway so I brought it with me to compare with their machine. I had a somewhat high reading with them at first (as is pretty much always the case) but I compared this wrist cuff with their machine a couple minutes after both readings they took and found it within about +/- 10 points on the upper number, which is at least as much as my BP varies just walking from the waiting room to the exam room or sitting for a few minutes in the exam room, so even though my PCP didn't like it this wrist cuff seems plenty accurate for my home use to me.
Before this arrived, I assumed that a "digital BP machine" would be complicated to program and that the "messy" instruction manual would be impossible to follow. After using it for a few days to monitor my heart health during a stressful work week, I realized that the interface is actually very intuitive and the build quality is a huge win for me. It actually provided much faster results than our old manual cuff, and it is a relief that I'm gona be able to store 2 users' worth of data for the rest of the year to show my doctor at the next checkup.Having a busy household means I appreciate when health tools come with their own protective gear, so the storage case is a total lifesaver for me. The surface of the U60A monitor has a professional, clean finish and there was absolutely no weird plastic scent when I first unboxed it. There is a satisfying weight to the internal pump that makes it feel like a piece of high-quality medical equipment, which is exactly what my spouse was looking for to ensure we had a reliable way to check our vitals without the "messy" setup of a full-size machine.Under the battery cover, the compartment is easy to access, although the only real annoyance was that the screen was so bright it was a little bit reflective when I was sitting directly under a ceiling light. Since the wrist design allows for a much more natural posture during the reading, I find it much easier to use than the arm-style versions, though I did find that the packaging was a bit of a pain to break down for recycling because of the extra-thick protective corners. It really solved the problem of wanting to keep track of my health without a lot of fuss, and I am gona be much more consistent with my daily readings now that I have this SimpliCare Pro.
Wrist monitors can be finicky if you don't follow the instructions strictly. To get reliable data, I’ve found that you must be seated and fully relaxed, having rested for several minutes beforehand. The most important factor is keeping the device at heart level during the process; even a slight deviation in arm height will throw off the results. The build quality is straightforward, and the large LCD screen makes the numbers very easy to read at a glance. The cuff fits securely and the velcro is strong enough to maintain steady pressure during inflation. I usually take three separate readings to ensure the numbers are consistent. It’s a convenient tool for quick checks, as long as you are disciplined with your positioning and take the time to do it correctly.
This wrist blood pressure monitor is a genuinely straightforward device that takes the intimidation out of home blood pressure tracking. One button starts the measurement, the cuff inflates automatically, and results appear on the 2.1-inch LCD in under a minute. The display is large and clear enough to read without glasses in most lighting conditions. The ±3 mmHg precision and FDA 510(k) Class II clearance give it medical credibility that matters when you are tracking health data your doctor may want to see. One important usage note worth understanding: wrist monitors require careful positioning with the cuff at heart level for accurate results, and slight variations in arm angle can affect readings. This is true of all wrist-style monitors and not specific to this one. The dual-user memory is a practical touch for couples or shared households, and the included travel case makes it easy to pack for trips. For around $24 bucks, the value is strong for an FDA-cleared device with this feature set at this price point. The one-button design makes it particularly well suited for seniors or first-time users.Overall, this is a well-designed and accessible wrist blood pressure monitor that covers everyday home monitoring reliably, as long as users understand proper wrist positioning technique.
I have a Withings smart BP monitor which has been working very well for me, but whose arm band is too large for my wife and kids. I figured this wrist-sized one would work pretty well for them, and the price isn't too deep.I noticed that the SimpliCare readings measured a little bit higher than my other BP monitor. It might be because it's measuring a different body part (wrist vs bicep), or it's truly calibrated a little higher, but at least it is consistent. The user interface could use a little work; the device allows you to save 2 different user profiles so you can save the last 3 readings for two different people, but in order to switch between them you have to go through the entire user setup process all over again. This means that after you switch between user one and user 2 for example, you then have to also set the date and time. As far as I can tell there is no way to skip that and just simply switch between users. The product name at the time of publishing this review was "Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor for Home Use – FDA 510(k) Cleared Class II Medical Device, Digital Wrist Cuff 13.5–21.5 cm, 2.1" LCD Display, Dual User, Travel Case (U60A)"
